Bits, Bytes & Bots school year programs give kids a mental playground where they can explore and create. 
After School Programs: Join one of our exciting after school groups during the school year. You can build, program and challenge other robots using LEGO® Mindstorms® robots, learn to program your own computer games using GameMaker software, make stop-motion animated movies. If you don’t see your school listed, email us and we’ll check into running our programs at your child’s school.

Class Descriptions:
LEGO® Mindstorms® NXT Robotics Engineering:
This exciting class teaches you how to program LEGO® Mindstorms® NXT robots, the coolest robot available. You will use your new skills to meet such challenges as beating your opponent at Sumo or pushing water bottles out of a ring. This class will introduce programming concepts such as repeat loops and if/then statements, and sensor use will also be taught. For the student who has little or no experience with robotics or programming.*Robots are for use by students in class only. The robots we use are expensive, and students will not be able to take them home.
Stop Motion Animated Movie Making:
If you’ve ever wanted to direct your own movies or like making up stories, then this class is for you. Using digital cameras, Stop Motion Pro animation software, and video editing software, you’ll create animated movies with transitions, titles, credits, and sound effects. Design your own set with backgrounds, characters, and scenery. The stories are up to your imagination. This is a great class to take with friends. No experience is necessary and you can take this class as many times as you like. Students take home a CD with their movies at the end of the class.
Computer Video Game Creation:
Ages 8-14 If you think playing computer games is fun, think what a blast learning to program your own games will be. Your imagination is the limit as you use GameMaker software to create maze, strategy, and a variety of other types of games. You’ll learn about creating sprites, objects, events and actions. Design a room, make it look the way you want, add objects and play your game. We’ll teach you how to display health, lives, score, splash screens and high score tables. Using drag and drop programming, you’ll be creating exciting, professional looking games you can play with your friends.
You can keep making games when you get home as the software is an inexpensive download from the Internet. If you think you’ve got a great idea for a game, you want to see what it would be like to be a game designer, or you just think computer games are fun, this class is for you. You must be experienced using a computer to take this class. If you’ve taken our Game Creation After School Class, this class goes into greater depth and reinforces previous learning. Software works on Windows OS only.
